With the holidays coming, it’s a great time to invest in a few new games to enjoy with family and friends on those cold, winter nights. These are some that range from easy-to-learn big group games to more strategy-filled involved games for the adults brought to you by Storage Units Rock Springs WY.
Telestrations
This is a great game that mimics the age-old game of Telephone, where your message gets delivered (and changed) down the line, but using drawings instead of words! This game can include up to twelve people and a variety of ages–anyone who can draw and guess a drawing! Playing this will definitely allow you to get to know your friends on either side better, how they think, and how they draw.
Code Names
Code Names is another fun, easy-to-learn game for a large group, but it definitely won’t let you turn your brain off! This game is all about finding creative ways to indicate in short phrases as many of the “code words” that are assigned to your team, allowing your team to guess which are yours, without having them guess one of the other team’s code words. This game can include a variety of ages!
Speak Out!
You’ve probably seen this game advertised or the funny videos of people playing it. For this game, you’ll each wear a plastic mouthpiece–10 are included in the game, but more are available for purchase…and they’re dishwasher safe!–that keeps you from being able to close your mouth. You’ll then have to read the tongue-twisting sentences on the cards, and hope that your teammates can stop laughing long enough to guess what you’re saying. This game is definitely a memorable one, and can really break the ice and get a party started!
Sequence
Grab your cup of tea and a warm blanket to play this game at the table with friends. A cross between a card game and a strategy-like Bingo, Sequence is relaxing but thought-provoking, and can be played with anywhere from 2-12 players. Two-eyed Jacks add some thrill to the game, but there’s enough chance involved that even beginner players could walk away the winner! This game is very easy to learn but enjoyable to play and chat over with friends.
Ticket to Ride
No doubt you’ve heard of this popular game, and it’s no wonder that it’s such a hit–Ticket to Ride combines great strategy with a risk-taking spirit to see who can conquer the USA train routes. With several strategies to win, you’re never quite sure what the hand will deal you and if you’ve made the right choices till the end. It’s also a great way for kids to learn the geography of the USA, and there are lots of spin-offs of this game available!
Pandemic
This is the most involved of the games listed here, but don’t let that scare you away! This intense game makes all the players a team, attempting to contain four epidemics that are sweeping across the world, and requires a lot of strategy, teamwork, and communication to ensure that research stations are established, cures are found, and the diseases are stopped. This is a nice change of pace, as it’s an “us against the board” type game, where your friends work together to achieve a win.
Check these games out online or in person, and add one to your collection! They also make great gifts for anyone you’re shopping for! There’s nothing like a good game to get everyone to put their phones down, engage in the group, and laugh together!
