Being more active is usually one of the top resolutions that we like to make in the New Year, but sometimes our unrealistic ideals (like going to the gym everyday or running a marathon by the end of the year) leave us quitting a few weeks in. For those who don’t have the option of a gym membership and live in a climate where the weather makes outdoor exercise difficult, here are five tried and true workout programs that can be done from the comfort of your own home with Public Storage Grand Junction KS.
SWEAT
Don’t let the target audience fool you–this program could whip anyone into shape in just 28 minutes a day! Kayla Itsines is the brains behind the BBG program, and releases new modules of exercises every few months, so that hundreds of thousands of users can be working through the same exercises together from the comfort of their own home. It offers a meal plan, a postpartum workout, and a huge community of support. At just $20 a month and 28 minutes a day, it’s a definitely doable!
Freeletics
This free app is one of the top-rated for strength training. It can be done in the comfort of your own home, while traveling, or in a gym–and the best part? No equipment is needed. Experts are finding more and more that strength training using your body weight is one of the most effective ways to burn fat and gain muscle. This app offers personalized coaching for a small fee, if you find yourself wanting to kick your workouts up a notch or target a specific trouble area.
Beachbody
This company has been dominating the at-home fitness game for a while with their intense and effective DVDs, but they’ve taken their programs to a whole new level by offering an affordable streaming service where you can access all their programs from your living room TV or phone. At just $15 a month, you have access to some of their more infamous programs like Insanity, PiYo, and 21-Day Fix, but can also choose workouts to target certain areas like abs or arms.
P90X
This program by renowned trainer Tony Horton has been around for a while, but it’s insanely popular and the results have been seen by many users. It features a set of DVDs and includes a schedule to make the most of your workouts. The magic definitely comes with a price–each workout is around 60-90 minutes, which can be a big time commitment for many. But, it’s hard to find another fitness program that is as outstanding as this. Once you master this series, Horton has released a sequel called P90X Plus.
Couch to 5k
If you’re someone who has always wanted to like running but can barely make it down the driveway, this app is for you. Whether you run outdoors, use a treadmill at home, or an indoor track at the gym, this app can take you from barely jogging for 30-second intervals to running an entire race. It’s easy to use, allows you to sync your music to the app, and can be done in just 30 minutes a day. Another perk–it’s free!
If none of these sound like your cup of tea, there are plenty of other options out there–programs for walking, stretching, yoga, or abs are accessible both through DVDs and streaming. They can range in length from seven minutes to an hour, but the important thing is staying active and pushing your body just a little bit each day.
